Sustainability

At Amy Francesca Designs we endeavour to be a sustainable and ethical business and strive to diminish our impact on the environment. We aim to produce beautiful homeware, giftware and lifestyle products whilst keeping sustainability at the core of our profession.

 

Amy Francesca Designs sustainability credentials include:

1)     Sustainably sourced paper or wood

Wood and pulp is sourced from sustainably managed forests. Sustainably managed forests meet the needs of wildlife whilst supporting livelihoods and providing many other ecosystem services, such as carbon storage and flood risk mitigation. Both our paper products and packaging are made using pulp sourced from sustainably managed forests.

 

2)     Recycled content

We always choose products with the highest possible recycled content to include in our collections. All our paper-based products and packaging are recyclable. We love to continue looking for ways to include reusable products into our collections, which already include our eco friendly water bottles and organic tote bags. 

 

3)     Organic

Organic cotton is grown using methods and materials that have a low impact on the environment. Organic production systems replenish and maintain soil fertility, reduce the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilisers, and build biologically diverse agriculture. We use organic cotton wherever we can in our collections.

 

4)     Eco inks

Neo pigment, water-based inks are 100% non-hazardous and toxin-free. They meet the strictest industry standards as defined by Oeko-Tex 100 safety applications for infant wear, Global Organic Textiles (GTOTS-3V), Residues Standard List (RSL), and the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colourists. At Amy Francesca Designs we always opt for water-based inks wherever possible.

 

5)     Plastic-free

Due to the long time it takes for plastics to biodegrade, we avoid using them in our products as much as possible. Where this is not practicable, we aim to use environmentally friendly plastics, such as biodegradable OPP bags as well as plastic bags and bubble wrap that can be recycled at special collection points. We are currently prototyping eco-friendly alternatives to bubble wrap. At Amy Francesca Designs we use paper based recyclable packaging for the majority of our products and use environmentally friendly plastics only where it’s absolutely necessary.

 

6)     Local Fulfilment

We partner with an international network of print labs connected by smart software, enabling us to process orders digitally and fulfil them closer to our customers. This reduces shipping distances for many of our products and significantly lowers carbon emissions — a small change that makes a big difference.
